2024 Neighborhood Picnic
In the fall of 2024 MARA hosted the annual neighborhood picnic. It included donated hot dogs and potluck sides and desserts. It was great to see so many kids and families in attendance. A big thank you to the Lincoln Police Department for sending two officers to visit and speak at the event and the Meadowlane Swimming Pool for giving an update on the progress of the pool. The MARA Board is looking forward to hosting the picnic again next year!
2024 Neighborhood Garage Sales
This year’s Meadowlane Neighborhood Garage Sales took place on May 31 and June 1! Households that signed were put on a map that lists all the garage sales in the neighborhood. This year nearly 30 garage sales were held.!
Herbert Park Playground
In January, 2024 the City of Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department announced it will receive a $600,000 grant from the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission to renovate old playgound equipment. Herbert Park was selected as one of the parks that will get new equipment. Park renovations are scheduled to begin in 2025.
2023 Meadowlane Shopping Center Family Fun Day
In the fall of 2023 Hampton Enterprises hosted a family fun day at the Meadowlane Shopping Center. There was free hot dogs and drinks for lunch, inflatable games, pumpkin painting, and booths hosted by the businesses.
Finke Gardens Redevelopment
The Finke Gardens Redevelopment Project is a planned unit development at the old Finke Gardens site which is located between N 66 & N 70 streets along the Mopac Trail. The City of Lincoln has approved the planned unit development that includes 32 dwelling units and commercial space. The residential units are planned to be row houses along the Mopac Trail, while the commercial space will be a veterinary clinic and dog grooming businesses. Construction of the clinic building is currently underway with an expected completion date of December 2023. The date for construction of the residential units has not yet been decided.
